I am currently trying out PhotoPlus X2 on my Win2000 box -

The layout shows Corel PhotoPaint roots, but I'm plenty used to that.  Just ask if you have any questions.

Hi Kelly, nice to see you here.

I've actually downloaded the free program GIMP, which is supposed to be fairly close to PhotoShop.

Not sure when I'll have time to learn it, but I needed  a program that will let you work in layers to make part of a GIF transparent.
I need to put up some logos on this forum and that's the only way I know how to do so.

Login OK without too much headache?

I've seen GIMP mentioned on other sites, but never tried it myself.  As I am on a dialup connection I avoid huge downloads like the plague.  Would rather just buy the CD.

PhotoPlus also covers most of the PS bases, but no 3rd party support.  PhotoPlus does have layers, which I have already used with success.  Haven't given the GIF deal a try yet.

Registration here went fine, maybe too easy.  With most sites using the graphic authentication code that code is on a very short timeline.  So by the time I'm through entering whatever text I want to send the code has expired and I have to "refresh" it.  That didn't happen here.  The original code was still in effect several minutes after the initial page load.  Dunno if that should actually be viewed as an issue, but thought I'd mention it.

Good information, thanks.

Were you required to use a code the next couple of times that you logged in?

I have since set my login to automatic, so I'm not seeing any authentication code now.  If you really want to go nutz with this, I've seen some 'boards where the code entry is required for every post!

I use Gimp almost exclusively.  I have ever since I stopped using Windows and started using Linux about 6 years ago.  It will run some PS plug-ins and is a highly-comprehensive, very flexible program.
